Looking for a reliable winter tyre? The Nokian WR D4 is the successor to the WR D3, a popular tyre amongst Central European and Scandinavian drivers. The new model is a solution designed for city cars, estates and small cars.

Nokian Tyres prioritises safety and excellent performance in typical winter conditions, so it is not surprising that it has been awarded the "A" rating for braking on wet surfaces (within the European labelling system). The WR D4 is the first tyre in its category with an "A" rating for wet braking.

The model features a directional tread pattern, which has been improved and optimised to suit winter conditions in Central Europe. The improved block design, reinforced with special connections and incisions, improves effective dispersal of water, slush and snow.

zebro-centralne-w-biezniku-kierunkowym-opony-nokian-wr-d4

The wide central rib features shorter blades to ensure steering precision and stability on the road. All of the grooves and tread blocks have been individually designed. This guarantees excellent grip and stability when going round corners and during sudden manoeuvres.

The tyre features the Nokian Twin Trac Silica compound, containing natural rubber, silica and rapeseed oil. This compound improves driveability on snowy and wet surfaces, helps increase grip and is very durable, which in turn has a positive impact on the service life of the WR D4. The use of this compound reduces rolling resistance, which in turn leads to a reduction in fuel consumption and thus a more economic and environmentally friendly driving experience.

nokian-wr-d4-sciana-boczna-komfort-jazdy

The engineers behind the tyre have also improved acoustic comfort using Silent Sidewall technology, a special strip made from an innovative rubber compound and inserted between the side wall and the tread (shown above). This actively filters noise and vibrations coming from the tyre whilst driving, resulting in a quiet and comfortable driving experience.

Nokian Tyres is an independent Finnish manufacturer which is particularly renowned for its winter tyres adapted to the difficult conditions of Central Europe and Scandinavia. Nokian Tyres introduces environmentally friendly solutions, making its products good for the environment not only at the production stage but also during their use and disposal.

    Opinion from outside IE

I had the Nokian WR D4 tyres fitted over 2 months ago. I drove a little more than 750 miles on them with a 150 bhp car weighing 1.5 tons. Usually in the city. First thing that got my attention was the smell of rubber compound. That's very unusual. From what I've read Nokian added canola oil to the mixture, maybe this caused such an unusual effect. These tyres really smell like no other. I don't pay much attention to the appearance of the tread, for me it's completely irrelevant. For me, the tyre needs to be effective when it comes to draining water, mud and snow as well as breaking distance. On second place I put the noise level and the third thing is rolling resistance. But I must admit that this tread is unique in appearance and looks quite nice. As for traction; On the dry the tyre firmly grips the road and is very quiet, not squealing on curves. At high speeds on the highway tyre noise did not bother me at all, it is minimal and for that Nokian is to be commended. I had the opportunity to ride in the city during really heavy rains which turned roads into rivers and so I am delighted how well this tire can cope with the water. At 45mph in such conditions, I only heard sough of traversed water, and the car felt like it was stick with a glue. Rut with water? For those tyres it does not matter. Braking? At the 45 mph, in these rainy conditions, the car felt like if it was driving on the dry road. As for the winter conditions of snow it was maybe a couple of days and the tyres were good. On the slush also all great. But it is not enough to somehow verify their effectiveness and to issue reliable opinions. As for the rolling resistance is not noted a higher combustion When you change summer tires (Pirelli) with these winter tires, but I refrain from evaluation because of a small run on these Nokian WR D4. I won't judge their durability neither because of distance. In my opinion premium tires all have similar parameters. If you have a slow 300-400 pounds and wish to buy winter tires then I honestly recommend them. If not, try Barum , but in my opinion it is worth investing in Nokians, in the end is the only part of the car which directly connects it to the surface ... Final statement - since I usually have little time to get to work in the morning I’m very glad Nokian WR D4 can take me there swiftly and safely. Read more Collapse

The Nokian WR D4 keeps cool as well fitted on the car with more than 300 hp. First impression - at above + 10 ° C during braking from high speeds the tyre terribly bends (I know it should be used when it's colder but still) - enough so that you think that you are driving on the rims. They also make strange sound during braking (something like this specifically hums and whistles, oddly enough from the beginning I thought that I did keep coming brakes) Second thing is that Nokian WR D4 are rather durable. A few days driving in cold temperature, some faster braked suddenly have 10 thousand miles instead of 8 mm tread close to 7 mm. Any super-aggressive driving, most highway and is classified as the biggest downsides of the tire. On the plus side? Adhesives for dry better than a summer tyre type Dunlop Sport Max On wet at all a revelation because I virtually can ride as if there was no water on the road. Overall: you should buy them even if you hadn't heard of them before, but if You are driving on a lot I'm sure the will last a few seasons so it's hard not to recommend them. Read more Collapse

I've used Nokian WR-G2 for a few years now and was sceptical about the new WR-D4 tyres. They're actually better than the WR-G2 in all respects other than one - the WR-D4 is directional and therefore has to be installed to run with the correct rotation direction, whereas the WR-G2 could be used on any wheel. This means that the D4 can't be rotated as easily for even tyre wear as it is limited to one side of the vehicle. Overall though, I'm very happy with this tyre and it sticks like nobody’s business. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nokian tyres for winter driving, and with the performance of the D4 then it does seem to be an improvement. I'll be giving them a try on the rear wheel drive car next winter when the G2s are worn out and hope they'll be as good as they are on a front wheel drive car. Read more Collapse

It is true that I do not have Nokian WR D4 for long, but I managed to do 1500 miles already. I tested it both out and in the city, because I travelled a lot lately. On a dry surface they behave really well. For wet (and a lot of rain recently) I was very pleasantly surprised, because I did not feel much of a difference. But most surprised me is how the tires allow you to correct mistakes on the slippery surface whether it's snow or soft ice. I have repeatedly made the mistake of giving too much gas while cornering (at this point it's probably just the spikes would have helped), the car began to fly, but after rapid correction of gas and counterattacks on wheels - Nokian WR D4 immediately caught traction again. Really highly recommended Nokian - I will recommend them to my family and friends Read more Collapse

Nokian WR D4 were bought 10 days ago and took them about 500 miles, so really still am experiencing them. At first I was fascinated by road feedback and traction. I like it more and more. To date, 20/10/2015 there was no opportunity to test the snow. The tyres are also good when it comes to comfort - no noise even when compared to the good summer tires (Vredestein Sportrac 5). Grate dampening of road inequalities. The tire seems to be stiff some of the time and soft the other part. Just at the right time when you need it so Nokian really thought that one out. 2013 Ford Focus model on the Internet when I decided to take my winter car tires and did a lot of research in the market. The study lasted nearly four months. I have studied a lot of models of tires from many brands. I do a lot of selling on the site and comparing prices on the market. The inventor of winter tires by fixing some of them in my head, I decide to take the company of Nokian tires. I do a lot research and dealers in the market to get Nokia websites. While the study on Oponeo website proved to be more appropriate than others and the price was also to give more details than many sites. I told them that I get the winter tires by calling customer service representative. And I really face a great interest. After dropping the new order Oponeo on-site interviews with the customer representatives did they put me one day and laser I (Usak's residence'm province). Everything was on the phone in my hand reached in a complete way provided by the customer service representative (or something from the history of tire production). I'm really happy to have made a purchase from Oponeo. Nokian WR D4 tires showed excellent performance, even though I expected it. Whether on snow, torrential rain is in the air, it makes you feel confident that you get a rainy weather. Tires of vehicles on the roads where I found more than one opportunity to use the road much longer than I did scrolling at low-speed tires from my car the long road trips and driving my car while I take a lot. Nokian WR D4 Although the noise level of tires, winter tires and summer tires seemed at times even less noisy. Cost-effective, showed very good performance in wet and dry weather, but the winter months. Of course, do not expect tires to work miracles, but a lot of rubber tires really great. The only fault is maybe the tires got a little soft body and if you enter something so carefree to duydum.bir pit much will deteriorate the structure of Nokian WR D4 tire winter tires is of course we Should not wait to create wonders being more careful on the icy roads enjoy on the ice. If you pay attention to a single tire, you will be very happy. Due to winter tires in terms of fuel economy has estimated that the increase a little of a fuel consumption but fuel inevitably winter tires increase fuel consumption and Nokian WR D4 tires must say that The ideal we evaluate the winter tires. Brand, which is a cold country like winter tires Nokian Finland and tires and take the inventor of the winter tire Oponeo I am very happy to get the company's website. I recommend everyone to winter tires Nokian WR D4 and pick up the Oponeo. I especially recommend to friends to pick up the Oponeo will fatigue. I bought Nokian WR D4 to replace Pirelli Winter Snowcontrol 185/60 R15, and during summer I use of Michelin Energy Saver in the same size. I decided to buy Nokian in "XL" version with a load index 88 instead of 84 to get more support and I do not regret the choice at all. This new Nokian rubber proved to be a very good decision. In terms of grip on dry, wet and snow, all compared to the old Pirelli, Michelin is compared to the summer, with respect to which these Nokian also offer lower fuel consumption and noise levels slightly lower, despite the winter geometry and the greater load index. My car now offers great comfort with the soft suspension, but it gives great opportunity for sports manoeuvring, as the tread a little 'tight; nevertheless, I found more grip than the Michelin summer, which amazed me. Throughout the winter, in which I have travelled about 10,000 miles, the tread has worn by ONE millimetre. Ultimately, I could not claim to be more happy with this purchase. Last, but not least, the Oponeo service was good and fast. Read more Collapse

The use of snow and mud slide + rain + is about braking on dry dissertations about. The slightly quieter noise than my Michelinów Primacy HP. And that would be enough. Now a negative impression. The tire is the index of H, but goes over 140 kilometers per hour (dry road and good weather), unfortunately, the car is unstable and starts slightly thrown (when driving in a straight line), we so the impression of falling into a skid. The tire is the only element of the vehicle which comes into contact with the road. The report of the small surface of the tire with the road affects our security in a trip, whether in town at low speed, or on the road on the highway. The city has the response and the channel time to ensure that the contact between the tire and the surface there. Nokian provide me these two things at the highest level. I do not fear that the city does not decelerate before the crosswalk, and I'm sure the road crossed the bow suddenly will not recover. Great write on any surface. In the rain tires to reverse gallons / min, providing excellent traction. The wygryzają snow .... I love the comparison. But they excel brilliantly. Read more Collapse

Tire surprised me incredible driving comfort, very quiet, but most probably include the way! Self made sensational, is glued to the surface, the wet, I have a sense of security and comfort. This is the first tire that does not tow the wet. When it comes to winter conditions ... Well, next month, I'm going to Norway, and in this spirit analyzed the purchase of good tires for extreme difficult conditions. I hope that the election will prove accurate, certainly to praise. How to choose a tire I wanted this as little hałasowały. Nokia dealer charged me Oponeo hotline, also considered Fulda area. Choose a good rubber are only slightly stronger than the summer (Fulda, below 70dB by. Label), mainly hear after exceeding 110 kmh. I do not know how to behave in the snow and mud, because I changed in early November and the snow was still not there. My tires. they declaim protection order to protect the rim. I wanted this because because of the large brake discs must go on rims 17 '. If you have not made a mistake and my tires were seriously this diatribe is a very modest :) In summer tires without rims element is less exposed to the curb when parking. Read more Collapse

When it comes to winter conditions at the moment I can not say anything. As for his / tire noise, I'm disappointed, certainly stronger than Continental TS 830 P I'm in another car (the profile of the same), and stronger than the summer, despite the fact that the back summer have a profile 275 and Nokia 245. This is another Nokian Tyres. Previously for 6 years, I had now decided on asymmetric directional. These are the quieter winter tires have ever used. I use them since the beginning of December and the beginning of a very difficult thing to assess because there was no winter conditions. Now, since the frost and snow and can say it definitely zachwalić. very good job on slippery surfaces, there is no problem with moving out of ice or snow is a pleasure to bite into. No problem braking evenly and firmly. I highly recommend these tires really worth for the winter there is nothing better for them :) hard and summer. I wish all the drivers Width Read more Collapse

Very good traction on dry roads. Cornering the tires keep the car idelnie in the course. They do not break during rapid acceleration. With abundant rain and a water layer on the surface of some tire yarn. Especially when depnięcia stronger you could feel that the car is in flight. In the corners of wet I go quietly, in the end, my car is kombiak and is used to transport children. The tires are quiet and comfortable. I evaluate the tires after about 3000 km, I have not yet had the pleasure of driving a car on snow and ice. I scored 4 points for driving on snow, because something had to choose. In this evaluation, I want to remain neutral. Read more Collapse

It all depends on how a copy of a will. Comparing these tires WR D3 WR G2 and, unfortunately drastic changes on the positive side, I can not see. While the WR G2 hit me grip on snow, he only kept D3 level as D4. The fact that keeping track driving on flooded road is fantastic, but ride comfort on dry leaves much to be desired. First tires rolling over a speed range of 80-100, the second quickly spaprało balance and should be weighed again ... I understand that this new series and new tires, but can do better. It is generally very good, but for the price you have high expectations. Compared to the competition - I would choose the same. Read more Collapse

I drove too short to release a fully informed opinion, but now I am able to judge the very positive donuts, the tire has a low noise level as in the case of winter tires is a big car consumes less and PLUS certainly not more than a summer tire, the wet we do not feel any discomfort, beautifully reduces noise on rough pavement, winter still ahead of us, but I could roll in the snow and slush, and I noticed that the car well outside of skiing and fundamentally difficult not to fall uphill in the snow arrives precisely, it is the first winter tire that I am fully satisfied, it is worth its price in good conscience recommend Nokian WR D4 Read more Collapse

I was driving in the lives of over one million kilometers already ripped lot of tires, commuting routes can still say something about the comparison tires are great. Among those who remember he rode Debica Frigo good average dry enough and is only in the corners, Pirelli some it very low, Goodyear Ultra Grip 7 very good, average Fulda Krisalp executed quickly, the greatest failure is the worst Bridgestone Blizzak tire I had. NOKIAN wet is sensational wonder 6+ dry summer, dry snow like water 6, wet snow and slush 5-, braking and handling on snow 5+. I can recommend Nokian winter tires conscientiously. These are my first tires from this company, but certainly not the last. I chose them because many people recommended their safety and I wanted a proven, high quality product. Ideally suited for driving around the city and beyond. I had no emergency situation in which they would not be able to cope. Exactly as in the manufacturer's descriptions, the tire, because of the large number of grooves, evacuates the slush and the water. High driving comfort, quiet running of the tires. The car was light and easy to drive. Very good quality at a reasonable price. Read more Collapse

I drove my first season on Nokian tires. The winter everyone saw was, it was cold but the snow was short, and when it was already a tire, it worked sensational. 18/01/2018 Fresh snow in Poznań, a paralyzed city, with most drivers sliding on their "winter", Nokian was whipping. No problem with maintaining the track, no problem climbing. On A2, no problem with slush. On a dry surface, the tire does not make noise, it is simply silent. Did the tire save fuel consumption? It's hard to say, because if it's not so much. First of all, it did not cause it to increase, and it's great. recommend Read more Collapse

I covered about 2000 km that day, including many on the highway. The first thing that surprised me was the calm and gentle was the first trip of about 400 km on the highway about right mounted. I thought to feel more vibrations of the steering wheel and interior noise at 130 km / h, the car was actually only a little noisier than previous Dunlop summer tires. I do not even have to test rain tires or snow, but based on reviews I should not worry about this. My only doubt was right on the most adverse situations in theory to winter tires as dry asphalt and high speed, but I had to return immediately. Read more Collapse

The tires are very useful in all conditions. On summer tires with heavy braking turn on me 2 times ABS. In Nokianach in winter conditions (snow storm in the night, thaw, freeze -15) I have not had such a situation, not one. Well hold onto roads, drainage sensational, braking gently. I recommend to all - should ride with a sense of security and complete control of the car in all conditions. An additional advantage - also important for me - they are very quiet for winter tires. Just awesome. I am happy that finally a real winter and I could immediately see the new purchases and enjoy. Read more Collapse

Tire extremely quiet - the first time I have a lot quieter winter tire for dry conditions of summer tires. Virtually bezszmerowa. In addition to significantly slow combustion route, and the city, it is even better (almost one liter per 100 km). On a wet and slightly snowy icy grip Nokian WR D4 simply sensational. On a dry little worse - ASR reacts and reduces acute start. When I saw that the tires are produced in Russia, he had first feared, but totally unfounded, because the new Nokia WR D4 are much better than the overrated Michelin Alpin 5, which last year assumed for Audi A6. I bought these tires like my first with this company. I decided to buy after a long reading numerous tests and reviews from other users. He asked me to lounge Volvo in Bielsko-Biala - that tipped the balance. Tires look good, they are not noisy at low speed and area. 100 km / h. In the dry, I have no comments to preserve for it on wet roads are paramount! They stick like glue. I live in the Beskidy and the morning weather (low temperatures, wet surface) often caused problems for even the Pirelli tires (summer). D4 simply sweep. There was a moment of fear when the car driving alongside me not braked before the other, who missed a pedestrian hit the car in front of him. I had before my eyes as I hit him before me, but despite the slippery surface and firmly press the ABS brake suspended only once and easily braked. These are the first tire company and unfortunately confirmed my rule that if you are demanding to buy Conti, Michelin or Dunlop winter and summer Conti, Michelin and Pirelli. Bridgestone is ok. Nokia on the speed of 85 starts to make noise and hum and rumble 95. It will be much on different surfaces is not important for me, other tires also give advice, but there is no comfort if the noise interferes with your driving. Read more Collapse

The tires founded in the Skoda Octavi RS, keep very well in the dry. Once in the corner, where there was a limit of 40 km / h, I was going "a little faster" and I felt a slight behind, and I was thinking of leaving. There is nothing to complain about the wet. Sensational snow. The tire is very quiet, even quieter than the summer Bridgestone Potenza. After the course of about 10,000 km alone the number 8 on the tire marker is gone, it's not bad either. Very quiet, soft tires. Mega Jump from the van that was hard, noisy and clumsy. Bearing Curious, he checks both on wet and snow (although it is still not too it was, but there is always something ...). Something that captivated me in those tires is that the price of a little more than 400PLN really get supermodel, quiet, fun to use, it seems that in the long term, because in a month I'm an average 5 -8000, and signs of wear virtually no ... So far I've used these tires in excessively humid conditions and read out and they have not disappointed the car feels lighter and more agile in comparison with effective grip tires Goodyear summer, I drive normally, but I suspect them being runflats made the difference. I look forward to the snow and ice to see how these tires preform as I feel they will do well with their chunky grip and a lot of blades which is why I have not evaluated for snow and ice. Quiet tires suitable softness, very good adhesion. While mentioning the site touted as the very model farm and specific professionals. I recommend to all who niezdecydowanemu. It is better to make a little money and be assured of the quality. I ride the first season, so I do not know how to use, but the level of noise, traction and the economy at a very good level. I am very happy. Express shipment too. Summer also buy on OPONEO and will also include Nokia. Read more Collapse

Very good winter tires. Stable handling in various winter conditions, very quiet, with damping irregularities may be different, especially at transverse irregularities, but it may also result from suspension. For a winter season and over 7,000 kilometers traveled on wet surfaces, slush - no slips. For sure, the best winter tires I've ever used. I recommend to anyone who has a dilemma if Nokiany or whatever, a choice - certainly Nokian. cordially Read more Collapse

The best winter tire with which I had to do (so far the Michelin Alpin 5 and Continental WinterContact judged the best, but now they are daaaaleko for Nokian WR D4): - on wet and frozen road holding as stuck - the poor snow (only one has so far been 3 days), super-short braking distances - a little less away in dry conditions at about 7 degrees (ASR towers) .. - Burn on the road decreased by approximately 1 l / 100 km .. - SUPER, SUPER QUIET !!! I had a fear of Nokian, but I took a chance and I'm happy. Beignets are a bit too strong, but it is on them is like a fairy tale goes like on rails. You get really disappointed for those who eat in front of you as if they were eggs and you have donuts and nerves you Biora but these slippers are wyprzedzanko is a fairy tale. Previously, I had brand of high quality, cost-effective purchase had to do and now I recommend it to everyone. Read more Collapse

I drove less than 10,000 on the Nokians. km, a lot of dry, wet and very snowy surface. Above all, the tire is quiet and comfortable, super selects irregularities. It was nice on the wet asphalt. On a dry, very good, medium with turns. They also behave well in the snow, they are good on the road. While driving on the highway 140-150 km / h, I felt that the car "flew" a little on the surface, probably through a very soft rubber. Read more Collapse

For two months now, I use d4 nokianow hand. I decided to buy because last season I had the pleasure to use d3 predecessors of the hand on the car 400 horsepower. What is it about the properties and behavior on the road definitely recommend. Unfortunately, the lack of snow I could not fully przetestowc. A huge drawback is the noise that generates on the highway. I think the previous model in its d3 is more friendly to the driver. Read more Collapse

The quietest winter tire on which I had the pleasure of driving. Pleasure, because beyond silence, I could enjoy the perfect grip, comfort and burning sensation, slightly different from the summer period. Excellent maneuverability on the curves, the car slides like on the tracks, even on wet surfaces. Also on the snow, but also on slush, very good grip. I really welcome this choice and I sincerely recommend it. Read more Collapse

My donuts Nokian D4 przejeździły only around 200 km. It is difficult to say how they will be exercised in the snow, because it has not uświadczyły. But one thing I'm sure they work very gently and the car will be little paliło.Moje previous winter tires and burn very hałasowały rose about 1 liter / 100 Noise and burning Nokianach is at the level of summer and maybe a little quieter.
