The Mercedes-Benz B-Class is a compact MPV classified in the C-segment (lower mid-range). Unofficially regarded as the successor to the Mercedes Vaneo, it debuted in 2005. The B-Class shares many components with the slightly smaller A-Class, including a lengthened version of its platform. It is offered exclusively as a five-door hatchback.
Unlike traditional Mercedes-Benz sedans, the B-Class features a taller and more robust body design, yet maintains a refined and elegant appearance both inside and out. Thanks to its double-floor construction, the seating position is elevated, enhancing the feeling of spaciousness and improving safety in the event of a frontal collision. This design helps protect occupants by preventing the engine and other components from intruding into the cabin.
The interior offers a high level of comfort and generous space. With the rear seats folded down, the boot capacity expands to an impressive 2,240 litres, making it highly practical for families and active lifestyles.
Engine options include petrol units ranging from 1.5 to 2.0 litres, delivering between 95 and 193 hp, as well as 2.0 CDI diesel engines available with 82, 109, or 140 hp. A factory-fitted 2.0-litre natural gas version producing 116 hp is also available. Transmission choices include a five- or six-speed manual gearbox or the AUTOTRONIC continuously variable automatic transmission.
In 2008, the B-Class received a facelift featuring redesigned headlights, which was unveiled at the AMI Motor Show in Leipzig. The first-generation model, designated W245, was succeeded in 2011 by a new generation. The updated B-Class, launched in September 2011, introduced a more modern design aligned with the brand’s latest styling language and was also offered in a hybrid variant.
The standard tyre sizes for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class are 195/65 R15 and 205/55 R16. Optional tyre sizes include 215/45 R17 and 215/40 R18, offering enhanced performance and styling options.
