For the first two years of the summer season the Toyo R1R were unbeatable. The engine could not break the grip except if we made it ourselves. My Audi 80 with 112hp on dry and wet surfaces could not have been provoked into any skid. When it was raining and it was warm it was lifeless but with the temperature drop and the wet surface you have to be very careful about overloading your car as it "gets away" but not without warning. It vibrates and jumps while aggressive and fast driving. So far I did not have better rubbers than Toyo R1R but after some wear and time is no longer as keen as it was at the beginning. I think that this limit is about 20,000 miles. But i do recommend it very much thetraction on curvy roads are fantastic! I entered a 60 degree turn at 125km / h. I was initially afraid but after doing it once i was doing it all the time :D And it's not even a race tyre as it's described online. I really recommend these!!!

The Toyo R1R is a great tyre at a relatively affordable price. Personally I used it in amateur sport. It works wonderfully on wet or heavily "dirty" pavement. Surprisingly good on dry conditions at low temperatures (+ 3/5 degrees) R1R is not suitable for extreme driving at high temperatures. It is easy to overheat it, which significantly lowers the grip. The tyre is very soft and wears fast enough, but I do not consider it being fault. High stability in curvy roads gives a sense of security. To sum it up, the Toyo R1R is a great tyre but you have to be a level-headed driver for it. Best quality a money can buy!

Because of the super soft tread, the Toyo R1R tyre has better grip in Asian climates (max. Humidity), for example on mild summer rain than on dry roads, where it also gets maximum performance. This is the fastest tyre wear I've ever seen (10 thousand miles / set without overheating) and that's the point; Either grip or longevity. It is not as loud as many sports semi-slicks. Instead, I would recommend it only to light cars because of the soft side walls. New tread depth of about 5mm. Consumtion has increased so much, rolling resistance does not meet the info given in the reviews, but it's still worth it.

Toyo R1R are very good grip in rain and dry asphalt, but during hot days and fast driving it can overheat resulting in poor traction again. The best properties in my opinion are obtained during the temperature of about 10-20 ° C. They drain the water well, and when wet slides "try to regain the grip." It's all a matter of a rather soft mixture, so the tyres "disappear" in no time, but they offer grip in almost any condition. The hard sides of the tire make the car more stable.

Toyo R1R is a very good tyre, for amateur sport, provides good grip on dry, wet and soiled surfaces. It allows you to feel the car well. Best in temperatures of up to about 23 degrees, above that there may be problems in the sports driving associated with skidding. It wears down moderately fast depending on the surface it's being driven on. These tyres have a good compromise between price and quality are cheaper and a little worse than Toyo R888 but last longer.

Product description

Toyo R1R 195/50 R15 82 V

Tyre description: Toyo R1R is an outstanding tyre thanks to its futuristic, directional tread . This model was designed with sports cars in mind. Despite its sporting nature, it does not compromise on driving comfort and safety. The main feature of this model is the tread. The long curved grooves are responsible for traction on wet and dry surfaces. The rubber sipes improve water evacuation from under the tyre and guarantee perfect grip to the surface . These tyres are suitable for dynamic driving. The transition from the straight drive to cornering is smooth and precise. The rubber compound used in the tyres makes the product lightweight and has low rolling resistance. This enables the driver to maximize the power of the car, and at the same, lower the fuel intake and emits less pollution into the atmosphere. Toyo engineers also made sure the tyre performs quietly during a journey. The Toyo R1R will satisfy anyone who appreciates sporty character, comfort and safety.

  • F
  • C
  • 71 dB
F C 71 dB

Fuel efficiency (rolling resistance)

Fuel efficiency is rated from A to G on a colour-coded scale. A class (green) stands for the best fuel efficiency rating (=the lowest rolling resistance). G class (red) marks the worst fuel efficiency rating (= the highest rolling resistance). Rolling resistance influences fuel consumption and fume emission, therefore the lower the resistance, the lower fuel consumption and exhaust fume emission is.

We grip

Wet grip is the tyre’s ability to adhere to the road in wet conditions. The EU rating focuses only on one aspect of wet grip – wet braking performance of the tyre. Wet grip is rated from A to G: A class stands for the best braking performance, whereas G class stands for the worst braking performance. It is one of the crucial parameters which influence the road safety.

Noise level

Tyres contribute to the level of external noise a vehicle generates. Choosing a tyre with a low noise level rating will lower the influence of your driving on the surrounding environment.
