The effect of tyre pressure on tyre wear

Both too high and too low pressure levels cause the tyre to wear more quickly. Low pressure levels accelerate tread wear and cause the rubber to overheat. A heated tyre is more susceptible to mechanical damage.

Over-inflation increases the risk of damage when driving into a pothole or kerb. Over-inflation also accelerates tread wear and can affect the vehicle's suspension.
