The Citroën C4 is a compact C-segment passenger car and the successor to the Citroën Xsara. It made its debut at the 2004 Paris Motor Show as a three-door coupé. The C4 lineup also includes a five-door hatchback version known as the Berline and a minivan variant called the C4 Picasso. In 2008, following a subtle facelift, a saloon version was added to the range.
From the beginning, the Citroën C4 stood out with its distinctive, avant-garde design and innovative technology. Notable features include adaptive dashboard displays that adjust contrast based on lighting conditions and time of day. Standard equipment includes electronic cruise control and a speed limiter. A unique highlight is the integrated air freshener system, which disperses fragrance through the ventilation system and can be refilled with nine brand-specific scent cartridges.
Safety is one of the C4’s strongest attributes, as confirmed by its five-star Euro NCAP rating. This is partly due to its rectangular driver’s airbag, which offers enhanced protection compared to traditional round airbags. Additional safety technologies include the FLIR system (which alerts the driver to unintentional lane departures), driver fatigue monitoring sensors, and xenon headlights with cornering function.
The second-generation Citroën C4 premiered at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and is available exclusively as a five-door hatchback. To align with evolving market trends, Citroën also introduced an off-road-inspired compact SUV version called the C4 Aircross.
