The Citroën DS5 is a premium passenger vehicle positioned in the D+ segment. It represents the third and largest model in Citroën’s modern DS lineup, which pays homage to the iconic Citroën DS of the 1950s. Unlike many competitors, Citroën deliberately avoids retro styling, opting instead for a bold, contemporary design language.
Unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the DS5 is built on the same platform as the Peugeot 3008. Like its smaller siblings, it stands out in its class with a distinctive and avant-garde appearance. The hatchback body style is paired with dynamic and expressive lines, giving the DS5 a unique presence on the road.
One of the most notable features of the DS5 is its suspension system. Instead of Citroën’s traditional hydropneumatic setup, the DS5 uses conventional steel coil springs, resulting in a firmer ride and sportier handling characteristics.
Inside, the DS5 exudes modern sophistication. Every detail has been meticulously crafted, with high-quality materials and a futuristic cockpit layout. The sculpted front seats offer excellent lateral support, enhancing comfort and stability during spirited driving.
Standard equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a premium audio system, power windows and mirrors, and a suite of advanced safety technologies. These include lane departure warning, a head-up display, ABS, and ESP.
The engine lineup features turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol units delivering either 155 hp or 200 hp. Diesel options include a fuel-efficient 1.6-litre engine with 110 hp and a more powerful 2.0-litre version producing 160 hp. Notably, the 2.0-litre diesel is also available in a hybrid configuration, offering improved efficiency and lower emissions.
The original tyre sizes for the Citroën DS5 are 215/60 R16 and 225/50 R17.
Optional tyre upgrades include sizes 235/45 R18 and 235/40 R19, enhancing both aesthetics and performance.
