The Fiat Bravo is a compact C-segment passenger car produced by the Italian automaker Fiat. It was introduced in 1995 as a three-door hatchback, replacing the Fiat Tipo. The Bravo was designed as a sportier, slightly smaller counterpart to the five-door Fiat Brava. Both models gained significant popularity, with the Bravo earning the prestigious European Car of the Year award in 1996.
Under the hood, the first-generation Fiat Bravo offered a wide range of petrol and diesel engines. Petrol options included the 1.4 12V (75 and 80 hp), 1.2 16V (80 and 82 hp), 1.6 16V (90 and 103 hp), 1.8 16V (113 hp), and the high-performance 2.0 20V (147 and 154 hp in the HGT version). Diesel variants featured the 1.9 D (65 hp), 1.9 TD (75 and 101 hp), and the more modern 1.9 JTD (100 and 105 hp).
The Bravo stood out with its sleek, aerodynamic design and modern styling. Its body was made from galvanized steel, offering excellent resistance to corrosion. In 2001, the Bravo was succeeded by the Fiat Stilo, a move that surprised many Fiat enthusiasts. However, due to underwhelming sales of the Stilo, Fiat decided to revive the Bravo nameplate.
The second-generation Fiat Bravo debuted at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. This version was slightly larger and featured styling cues inspired by the Grande Punto, including a coupé-like rear that gave it a dynamic and aggressive appearance. Signature ring-shaped rear lights, a hallmark of the Bravo, were retained. The interior, designed by the renowned Italian design house Italdesign, featured chrome accents and a modern dashboard crafted from high-quality materials. One of the standout features was the spacious 400-liter boot, the largest in its class at the time.
Fiat is currently preparing to launch the third generation of the Bravo, scheduled for release in June 2013. The new model will be based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta platform, promising enhanced performance and design.
