Mazda 5

The Mazda 5 is a compact MPV produced by the Japanese automaker Mazda. The first generation debuted in 2005 and was also marketed as the second generation of the Mazda Premacy. Built on Ford's global C1 platform, it shared many mechanical components with its twin model, the Ford Focus C-MAX. However, a key distinction was Mazda’s use of sliding rear doors, offering greater convenience in tight spaces, while Ford opted for traditional hinged doors.

In 2008, the Mazda 5 received a facelift that introduced LED rear lights and a redesigned front bumper for a more modern look. The automatic transmission was upgraded with an additional fifth gear. Inside, the center console was refreshed, a new air conditioning control panel was added, and the radio system was updated. The instrument cluster also received new luminescent dials for improved visibility.

The second-generation Mazda 5 premiered at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, featuring a completely redesigned body with dynamic styling in line with Mazda’s design language of the time. The front end was equipped with a bold bumper, swept-back headlights, and a grille reminiscent of the Mazda 3. The interior continued the sporty theme, with instrument dials set in sleek, tubular housings.

Under the hood, the second-generation Mazda 5 offered two petrol engine options—1.8-liter and 2.0-liter—as well as a 1.6-liter turbo diesel engine sourced from PSA.

The standard factory tyre size for the Mazda 5 is 195/65 R15. Optional tyre sizes include 205/55 R16 and 205/50 R17, allowing for enhanced performance and styling customization.
