Mitsubishi Outlander

The Mitsubishi Outlander is a mid-size SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. First introduced in 2003, the model is currently in its second generation, following a significant facelift. The latest version features a bold Jet Fighter-style front fascia, reflecting the brand’s modern design language. Under the hood, the Outlander offers a range of petrol engines from 2.0 to 3.0 litres, as well as diesel options from 2.0 to 2.2 litres. The smaller diesel engine is sourced from Volkswagen, while the 2.2 DI-D is Mitsubishi’s in-house development, notable for incorporating the innovative MIVEC variable valve timing system—used in a diesel engine for the first time. Inside, the cabin is thoughtfully designed, with intuitive placement of controls and improved material quality. The Outlander also features a premium Rockford Fosgate sound system and is available in both 5- and 7-seat configurations. Drive modes are selectable via an electronic dial on the centre console, allowing drivers to switch between front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and a locked centre differential mode that evenly distributes power between the front and rear axles. With its independent suspension and generous ground clearance, the Outlander handles well on light off-road terrain and snowy roads. However, like many SUVs, it exhibits noticeable body roll and reduced stability during high-speed cornering due to its comfort-oriented suspension tuning. Factory tyre sizes vary by trim level and include 215/55 R17, 215/60 R16, and 215/70 R16. An optional tyre size for the Mitsubishi Outlander is 225/55 R18.
