Opel Zafira

The Opel Zafira is a compact MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) in the K-segment, featuring a practical minivan body style. Manufactured by Opel, a subsidiary of General Motors, the first generation debuted at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show. Built on the Opel Astra G platform, the Zafira was also marketed under various names, including Holden Zafira, Chevrolet Zafira, and Subaru Traviq, depending on the region. The Zafira was offered with a range of petrol, diesel, and natural gas engines, including: 1.6 16V (101 hp), 1.8 16V (116 or 125 hp), 2.2 16V (147 hp), 2.0 16V Turbo (192 or 200 hp), 2.0 DI 16V diesel (82 hp), 2.0 DTI 16V diesel (101 hp), 2.2 DTI 16V diesel (125 hp), and 1.6 16V CNG (97 hp) natural gas engine. A standout feature of the Zafira is its innovative Flex7 seating system, which allows the third row of seats to fold flat into the floor, creating a spacious luggage area when needed. In 2003, the model received a facelift that included clear side indicators, a redesigned front grille, and additional storage compartments for passengers. The second-generation Zafira was introduced in 2005 and continued to offer seven seats, enhanced comfort, and improved safety features. Initially produced in Bochum, Germany, and until July 2010 also in Gliwice, Poland, the second generation introduced the Flexivan cargo version, which features tinted rear windows and a single row of seats for commercial use. Available in five trim levels—Essentia, Enjoy, 111 (limited edition), Cosmo (luxury version), and OPC (sport version)—the Zafira B received a facelift in 2008. Updates included a refreshed dashboard color scheme and redesigned front and rear lights with clear elements. For the popular 1.9 CDTi version powered by a Fiat-sourced diesel engine, the original tyre size is 205/55 R16.
