The Suzuki SX4 is a compact crossover (C-segment) developed by Suzuki Motor Corporation with a strong focus on the European market. It succeeded the Suzuki Aerio/Liana and was co-developed with Fiat, which released a twin model under the name Fiat Sedici. Production took place in three locations: Esztergom (Hungary), Kosai (Japan), and Manesar (India).
The SX4 made its debut at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show and was designed by renowned Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign. Initially launched as a five-door hatchback, a four-door sedan version followed, unveiled at the 2007 New York Auto Show and released in 2008.
The SX4 was offered with a range of petrol engines: 1.5L 16V (99 hp), 1.6L 16V (107 hp and 120 hp), and 2.0L 16V (143 hp), as well as diesel options: 1.6L 16V (90 hp), 1.9L (120 hp), and 2.0L 16V (135 hp). Transmission options included five- or six-speed manual gearboxes and a four-speed automatic. A standout feature of the SX4 is its intelligent i-AWD all-wheel-drive system, which delivers excellent traction in challenging road conditions.
In 2009, the SX4 received a facelift that introduced a refreshed design and more efficient engines with reduced fuel consumption and lower CO₂ emissions. The updated 1.6L engine incorporated variable valve timing (VVT), enhancing performance while being more environmentally friendly.
Safety features include rear disc brakes, ABS with EBD and BAS, ESP, and a full set of airbags (front, side, and curtain). The SX4 earned a four-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests. The interior comfortably seats five adults, and the spacious boot offers up to 1,045 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded down. Higher trim levels include premium features such as a keyless start system and other comfort-enhancing technologies.
The Suzuki SX4 came factory-equipped with 205/60 R16 tyres.
