The Volvo C30 is a compact hatchback produced by the Swedish automaker Volvo Car Corporation. It was first unveiled in January 2006 at the Detroit Motor Show and later that year at the Paris Motor Show. This model serves as the hatchback counterpart to the Volvo S40 sedan and V50 estate, sharing the same front-end design. Built on the P1 platform—also used by the second-generation Ford Focus and Mazda 3—the C30 was manufactured exclusively at Volvo’s plant in Ghent, Belgium.
Unlike the boxy designs traditionally associated with Volvo, the C30 features a sleek, modern silhouette with pronounced lines and a distinctive fully glazed tailgate. Inside, the cabin reflects Volvo’s signature design language, offering a clean and ergonomic layout.
One of the C30’s standout features is its exceptional safety. It includes Volvo’s patented SIPS (Side Impact Protection System) to mitigate side collision forces and WHIPS (Whiplash Protection System) to reduce the risk of neck injuries. The front structure incorporates three different types of steel to optimize energy absorption in a crash, while the rear features a large crumple zone designed to protect occupants by forming a safety cage.
Standard safety equipment includes six airbags and ABS. The vehicle also features IDIS (Intelligent Driver Information System), which helps reduce distractions by limiting non-essential information when it detects the driver is focused on high-speed driving or complex maneuvers.
The factory tyre sizes for the Volvo C30 are 195/65 R15 and 205/55 R16. Optional tyre upgrades include 205/50 R17 and 215/45 R18, offering enhanced performance and styling.
