    Opinion from outside IE

The purchase of Michelin Primacy 4 215/55 R17 4 June 2024, preceded by a detailed analysis of the premium tyres offered by several manufacturers on Oponeo.co.uk, was a truly excellent choice, both in terms of price and handling characteristics, which far exceeded my expectations. As a really satisfied user of an already heavily used premium tyre (Continental Conti Eco Contact 5 215/55 R17 94V, 2015), when considering whether to choose the same or “'take a risk”' and try something unfamiliar, new but just as good, I decided on the Michelin Primacy 4. One of the inspirations for buying Michelin tyres was the opinion of a trusted vulcaniser (September 2023) about the legendary grip of Michelin tyres in all conditions - I decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. In my opinion, the Michelin Primacy 4 is a much firmer tyre at around 10 degrees Celsius than the Continental Conti Eco Contact 5 (personally, I like hard tyres), so that I get a much better and more “'spot-on”' feel for the road surface when driving and the car handles like “'on rails”', including in corners, which definitely increases driving safety. I was most impressed with my new Michelin Primacy 4 when driving in heavy rain - I can confirm that the tread pattern is designed in such a way that puddles literally “'cut through”' and aquaplaning is reduced to a minimum. When driving on bumpy asphalt, it is quite firm and stiff (which is just the way I like it), sometimes you can feel the car vibrate more strongly, but the track is chosen with perfect precision. Indeed, driving comfort on less even pavement, for the same tyre pressure, is greater on the Continental Conti Eco Contact 5 tyres, as they are definitely softer, while the Michelin Primacy 4 provides much more precise handling and allows for a more dynamic and safer ride on wet roads. Driving on the Michelin Primacy 4 allows a “'point”' feel to the road, whereas on the Continental Conti Eco Contact 5, you feel the road with the entire surface of the tyre and it feels “'wider”' than it really is, providing excellent handling and grip on dry roads. I'm still discovering my new tyres by comparing them with my previous ones - both the Michelin Primacy 4 and the Continental Conti Eco Contact 5 are excellent tyres, but they have slightly different characteristics: the former are noticeably harder, resulting in very precise handling in all conditions and excellent grip when driving dynamically, while the softer Continental Conti Eco Contact 5 delivers incredible (in my opinion superior) ride comfort and dampens all bumps perfectly, so they will work well for users who like their car to drive “'soft”' and when it doesn't shake. The Michelin Primacy 4 is an excellent choice for users who want to get the most out of their car in all conditions (except snow and ice) - Michelin is a legendary sports tyre manufacturer and I can feel this perfectly when driving. The car now drives sportier, much more confident at higher speeds and in corners. More precise. It was definitely worth trying “'something new”', a little different to what I had tried before, but perfectly in line with what I was looking for and expecting when choosing new tyres. If they were still as “'soft”' as the Continental Conti Eco Contact 5, that would be ideal, but that's not possible - either great steering precision in all conditions or great comfort in all conditions. I would particularly recommend the Michelin Primacy 4 to users of premium or high-powered cars, as they offer excellent grip on both dry and wet surfaces. I'm glad I chose them - it's what I expected from Michelin. Read more Collapse

For me, no premium class. I bought these tyres with lower noise in mind, but was sadly disappointed. Having old, worn 2009 Kumho tyres I didn't feel any difference, in fact I would say the old ones were better (and I'm not joking now). And I would also mention the softness of the tyre, well they feel stiff and the car is a Passat after all, so the tyres are to blame. I'm sure the car is fine, it's been checked. I wouldn't buy them again. I suspect the fault is that they are made in Poland, which no one mentioned to me, they are not the Michelins they used to be. Read more Collapse

I bought the Michelin Primacy 4 mid-year to replace my worn out Dunlop tyres. The first difference is that the car holds the road way better, so I am more confident behind the wheel. My fuel consumption has dropped significantly and it is quieter at higher speeds. After driving a few thousand kilometres I can in surely recommend these tyres. Read more Collapse

This summer tyre from Michelin combines the best quality and durable rubber blend, which creates the safe and reliable Primacy 4. This summer model designed for passenger cars will prove its quality in changing spring weather and during summer family trips. Symmetrical tread in the tyre is designed to protect it better against aquaplaning and quick wear.

Four elongated wide grooves and tread blocks with many incisions make the braking distance short and quickly remove water from front of the tyre.
