Fiat Punto

The Fiat Punto is a B-segment passenger car positioned in the lower-middle class category. It has been in production since 1993, with three generations released to date. The first generation succeeded the popular Fiat Uno and was built on the platform shared with the Lancia Y and Fiat Barchetta. The Italian "Punto" (meaning "dot") quickly gained popularity among budget-conscious European drivers. In 2005, just two years after its market debut, the Punto was awarded the prestigious "Car of the Year" title. This recognition was due to its modern yet understated design, a wide selection of fuel-efficient engines, and a reputation for reliability. A convertible version, the Punto Cabrio, was also introduced. Designed by the renowned Italian design house Bertone, it became one of the most affordable convertibles on the market. The first-generation Punto was a commercial success, with over 2 million units sold in Europe within just two years. To celebrate Fiat’s 100th anniversary, the second generation was unveiled at the 1999 Turin Motor Show. This version was essentially a facelift of the original, retaining the same platform, components, and most engine options. However, the second generation did not match the success of its predecessor. In response, Fiat launched an entirely new and larger model in 2005—the Fiat Grande Punto. A refreshed version of this model was later introduced as the Punto Evo. In 2011, Fiat returned to the original naming convention and revealed the latest version of the Punto at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This updated model is available in three trim levels: Pop, Easy, and Lounge. It combines contemporary styling with affordability and features several modern technologies, including the Blue&Me multimedia and navigation system, Start&Stop functionality, and a gear shift indicator for improved fuel efficiency.
