The first generation of the Opel Astra, designated as the F model, was produced from 1991 to 2002 and was one of the most important cars in this German manufacturer’s portfolio. The car was a C-segment model and at the same time the successor to the already outdated Kadett, which was finally discontinued in 1993. The Opel Astra F is a versatile model – it came as a hatchback, sedan, estate, cabriolet, and even as a 3-door van. The lineup included many diesel and gasoline engines, with displacements from 1.4 to 2.0 l and power from 57 HP to 150 HP in the strongest variant, capable of reaching 100 km/h in 8.0 s. The Opel Astra F appeared in many trim levels, including limited editions such as Sunshine, Champion, California, and Dubai Edition. A particularly interesting option for buyers was certainly the cabrio version, designed by the Italian company Bertone. The car, like most competitors’ models, had front-wheel drive, as well as practical dimensions – from 405 cm to 428 cm in length and 170 cm in width.
