The first number denotes the tread width of the tyre. The number is provided in millimetres and in the case of the 195/65 R16 tyre it equals 195 mm. The second number equals the tyre profile's height and its percentage ratio to the tyre's tread width (65% out of 195 mm). The letter "R" informs about the tyre's radial construction.
