Riken is a Japanese brand founded in 1917. The company manufactures economy class tyres for passenger cars, SUVs, light commercial vehicles and trucks. The Riken brand has emerged in the awareness of customers worldwide, exporting tyres to foreign markets. In 1997, the company was acquired by Michelin, and has been owned by them ever since.

215/50 R17 tyres are installed in executive cars. The size of the tyre can be seen on its sidewall. It is provided with the help of a string of numbers. The tread width of the tyre is provided in millimetres by the first number. In the case of the 215/50 R17 tyre it is 215 mm. The second number equals the tyre profile's height and its percentage ratio to the tyre's tread width, meaning 50% out of 215 mm.
