The Audi A6 is a premium mid-size passenger car produced by the renowned German manufacturer Audi. Available in both saloon and estate body styles, the A6 competes directly with other luxury vehicles such as the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
The first generation of the Audi A6 was essentially a refreshed version of the Audi 100 C4, offering a wide selection of petrol and diesel engines. Among these, the 1.9 TDI and 2.5 TDI engines stood out for their exceptional reliability. The high-performance S6 variant featured a powerful V8 engine delivering over 300 hp.
In 1997, Audi introduced the second-generation A6, known as the C5. This model featured a completely redesigned body and suspension system, with styling by the prestigious Pininfarina design studio. It also introduced the innovative Multitronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). A facelift in 2001 brought updated bumpers and headlights, and the rugged Allroad Quattro variant was launched based on this generation.
The third generation, the Audi A6 C6, debuted in 2006. It retained the elegant styling of its predecessor while incorporating modern design elements by Walter de'Silva, the visionary behind the contemporary design language of Audi, Volkswagen, and SEAT. In 2005, the A6 C6 earned the prestigious Car of the Year award. A 2008 facelift brought design updates aligning it more closely with the Audi A4, along with improvements to the suspension and onboard electronics.
The fourth generation, known as the C7, has been in production since early 2011. It shares many design cues with the Audi A7, both inside and out. The wheelbase was extended by 76 mm compared to the previous generation, enhancing interior space and comfort.
The second-generation Audi A6 (C5) gained significant popularity, reinforcing Audi’s strong presence in the premium segment. This version came with factory-fitted tyres in three sizes, depending on the engine variant: 195/65 R15, 205/55 R16, or 215/55 R16.
