The Volkswagen Touareg is a modern SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) that has gained popularity in the premium segment. Developed in collaboration with Porsche, it shares its platform with the Porsche Cayenne. The Touareg made its debut in 2002 at the Paris Motor Show, combining impressive power with refined elegance.
At launch, the Touareg was available with several engine options: a 3.2 VR6 producing 220 and 241 hp, a 4.2 V8 with 310 hp, and a 3.0 V6 TDI delivering 225 hp. Over the years, the engine lineup expanded to include three petrol engines—3.6 VR6 (280 hp), 4.2 V8 (350 hp), and 6.0 W12 (450 hp)—as well as four diesel variants: 2.5 R5 TDI (174 hp), 3.0 V6 TDI (240 hp), and 5.0 V10 TDI with outputs of 313 hp and 350 hp.
In addition to its powerful engines, the Touareg features advanced equipment, with some components borrowed from the luxury VW Phaeton. Just four years after its launch, the model received a facelift that included redesigned front and rear lights and added chrome accents. Notably, the Touareg earned a maximum five-star rating in Euro NCAP safety tests.
The second-generation Volkswagen Touareg was introduced in 2010, built on the same platform as the second-generation Porsche Cayenne. This version is both longer and lighter than its predecessor. A key innovation was the introduction of a hybrid powertrain: a 3.0 V6 TSI engine producing 245 kW (333 hp) paired with a 35 kW (47 hp) electric motor. Other available engines include a 3.6 V6 FSI petrol engine with 206 kW (280 hp), a 3.0 V6 TDI diesel with 176 kW (240 hp), and a 4.2 V8 TDI diesel delivering 250 kW (340 hp).
The Volkswagen Touareg is factory-equipped with tyres in the following sizes: 235/70 R16, 235/65 R17, 255/55 R18, and 255/60 R17. Optional tyre sizes include 235/60 R18, 255/50 R19, 275/40 R20, and 275/45 R19.
