Ford Focus

The Ford Focus is a compact car designed to appeal to a wide range of drivers. While this broad appeal may not excite hardcore car enthusiasts, the strategy proved highly successful—at one point, the Focus was the best-selling car in the world. Positioned between city cars and larger family vehicles, the Focus has carved out a strong presence in the compact segment. By 2016, Ford had released three generations of the model: the first in 1998, the second in 2004, and the third in 2010.

The Ford Focus is available in four body styles: hatchback, saloon, estate, and coupé-cabriolet. Upon its debut, the model stood out from its competitors with features like an independent multi-link rear suspension with flat control arms. Its bold and modern look was dubbed the New Edge Design. From the second generation onward, the American and European versions of the Focus began to differ significantly in design. The U.S. version (USDM), launched in 2007, was offered only as a saloon and coupé. Safety was a key focus in the second generation, earning the model a maximum five-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests.

The third generation of the Ford Focus, introduced in 2010, is the most advanced and powerful to date. The saloon and hatchback versions made their world premiere at the North American International Auto Show, while the estate version debuted in Geneva. Ford also introduced an all-electric version with a range of approximately 160 km, showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where it generated significant interest. This generation is known for its solid standard equipment, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, an on-board computer, electric front windows, electric mirrors, central locking, and a CD/MP3 radio. Optional features include manual air conditioning and electric rear windows.
